Awards

PVBS 2026 recognises scientific excellence through a set of awards for outstanding contributions presented during the symposium.

The following awards will be granted:

  • Best Oral Presentation Awards: (4 prizes) – €150 each

  • Best Poster Presentation Awards: (4 prizes) – €100 each

Awards will be selected by the Scientific Committee based on scientific quality (40%), visual design and structural clarity of the presentation (20%), innovation and impact (20%), and overall communication (20%). Awards will be presented during the closing session of the symposium.

Travel Grants

  • 10 free registrations for young scientist members, preferably CLIRSPEC members;

  • 1 travel grant (1.000€) for 1 young researcher who is ESCMID and ESGMD member and submiting work to the session "Applications in infection control and disease diagnostics".

  • 1 travel grant (500€) for 1 young researcher who is ESCMID and ESGEM member and submiting work to the session "Applications in infection control and disease diagnostics".

Applications are open until the deadline for abstract submission.

Conditions for selection:

  • PhD students, MSc or PhD gratuates with no longer than eight years post-graduation;

  • Be the presenting author of an abstract accepted to the PVBS 2026;

  • Final eligibility is conditional upon abstract acceptance.

Selection criteria:

  • Relevance and quality of the accepted abstract.

  • Motivation letter to attend the symposium.

  • Applications from LMIC members will be prioritized.
